It was a busy morning, I dropped my son in the school as he missed his school bus. So, I left with couple of minutes to prepare lunch for MD. Always this recipe comes handy to pull me out form these type of crisis situations. Very easy and simple to prepare without compromising with the nutrients. It is not necessary for the Indians to let them know about the health benefits of green gram, which has high proteins, vitamins and minerals. So protein rich food in minutes, sounds very interesting right?
Chow Chow kootu / Chayote Green Gram Sauce
Chow Chow/ Chayote - 1
Green Gram/ Pasiparuppu - 1/2 Cup
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Black Gram/ Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Let the cooker releases its steam. Open the lid, now it is ready to be served.
It can be served as a side dish for steamed rice, rotis, flat breads. It can also be served as main dish with steamed rice. This is perfect for the kiddos, who dont prefer spiciness.
Tips: onion, garlic, curry leaves can be added while seasoning, to get more flovour. Ingredients can be adjusted as per everyone's taste.
