Chitranna

Chitranna is a quick and easy South Indian rice recipe that is perfect for busy days or packing lunch boxes. Made with tangy lemon juice, flavorful turmeric powder, onions, curry leaves, and spices, it is a delicious and satisfying meal. Serve it hot with a side of potato fry or chips for a complete and mouthwatering experience.

4 tablespoons sunflower oil ½ teaspoon black mustard seeds ½ teaspoon urad dal 1 tablespoon chana dal 3 tablespoons peanuts ¼ cup chopped onion

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon chopped curry leaves 1 tablespoon chopped green chili serrano pepper ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder 2 cups cooked rice (any long grain variety) ½ teaspoon salt or as required 4-5 tablespoons lemon juice

Heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, peanuts. Roast till golden brown and mustard seeds splutter.

Add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chili. Sauté until onion becomes translucent. Then add turmeric powder and sauté for a second.

Add cooked rice, salt, and lemon juice. Gently stir until all ingredients blend well with rice. Check for salt and add if needed.
