Aloo matar-Indian potato peas curry
Indian potato peas curry made with Instant pot in the Punjabi style. This curry is spicy cooked in the onion and tomato gravy. Takes less than 10 minutes for the preparation and cooks for 7 minutes in the Instant pot.

Ingredients
For the making masala

vegetable oil

onion

ginger

garlic

For seasoning

cumin seeds

teaspoon
red chili powder

teaspoon
coriander powder

turmeric powder

For cooking

water

potato
pealed and cubed

green peas

tablespoon
cilantro
chopped
Instructions
For the masala
Set the Instant Pot in the saute mode.
Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and chopped onion. Saute until onion becomes soft.
Add ginger and garlic. Continue saute for a minute.
Now add tomato and cook until the tomatoes turn slightly mushy.
Transfer it to another plate and allow it to cool down.
Once cool down, pulse it in the blender to a smooth paste. And keep aside.
For seasoning
In the same Instant pot pan, add 2 tablespoon of cooking oil and cumin seeds.
Allow cumin seeds to splutter.
Add the ground mixture and saute until it thickens.
Add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt.
For cooking
Saute for approzimately for 20 seconds. Make sure to stir without burning.
Add water, cubed potatoes and green peas.
Close the lid and seal the vent.
Set the cook time for 7 minutes in the Instant pot.
Allow to release the pressure naturally.
Open the lid, sprinkle chopped cilantro and serve hot.
Notes
The Instant pot heats up quickly and has more changes for getting burnt up. So make sure to stir when needed.
