About The Stuffed Peppers
First, we should understand that we are planning to store the stuffed peppers to use for a longer time. When all the precautions are followed, the frozen stuffed peppers are good to use for 6-9 months.
The most common question is, which is better, cooked or uncooked stuffed peppers for freezing? The answer is that cooked stuffed peppers are effortless. The time for thawing and reheating differ entirely from each other.
Cooked Vs. Uncooked Stuffed Peppers
Freezing cooked stuffed peppers is efficient and safe. The stuffed peppers recipe involves blanching, making the filling, and baking it together. All three steps involve varying cooking times and methods.
Hence, we must follow some prepping work to freeze uncooked stuffed peppers. For this, we highly advise blanching the peppers and cooking the filling. Then, freeze the blanched peppers and cook the filling separately.
How To Freeze Stuffed Peppers?
In the dish tray. This is the most convenient of everything. Plus, this is super easy when reheating and serving. But the only problem is that it occupies most of your freezer space.
For this method, place the stuffed peppers in a freezer-safe deep tray, sitting them next to each other. Seal the tray with cling wrap. Again, wrap and fill them with aluminum foil to avoid the freezer bite.
And when you want to reheat it, you can remove the wraps; you may directly pop them into the oven. You may also serve them in the same deep tray.
In Ziploc bags. This method is more straightforward and does not occupy much of your freezer space.
For this, place a Ziploc bag over a tray. Arrange the stuffed peppers in an upright position in the Ziploc bag. Then, seal it by removing the excess air.
Then, place these stuffed peppers and a tray in the freezer. Leave it overnight for 6-8 hours to freeze completely. You may remove the tray from the freezer and leave the Ziploc bag in it.
Thus, the peppers stay intact inside the bag without spilling its filling.
In individual packs. On the other hand, you may wrap them individually in air-sealed bags or containers. This is more handy when reheating for a single serve or when planning to serve in small portions.
Thawing
Conventional method. Place the frozen stuffed peppers in the refrigerator overnight or for about 8 hours to thaw.
Quicker method. On the other hand, you may reheat it directly in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-12 minutes or until it turns warm completely.
Reheating the stuffed peppers
- In the oven. In this traditional reheating method, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, place the frozen stuffed peppers in the middle rack until warm.
- In the microwave. This is the quicker method. For this, reheat the stuffed pepper for 1 minute and then in 30-second intervals until it turns warm.
- In the Instant Pot. Can we reheat frozen stuffed peppers in an Instant Pot? Absolutely yes. In this method, water is added to the inner pot. Place the trivet and arrange the stuffed peppers in the electric cooker sage bowl. And close it with a lid. Then, set the timer to 4 minutes or until thoroughly reheated.
- In the air fryer. This is a recent addition to reheating frozen food, which also works very well in frozen stuffed peppers. For this, place the stuffed peppers in the chamber. And set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Reheat for 4 minutes or until it is done.
When stuffed peppers are appropriately preserved and stored in double wrap, they can be used for 6-9 months.
Seal the stuffed peppers carefully by wrapping them in double layers.
