Learning more about the stuffed peppers

First we should understand that we are planning to store the stuffed peppers to use for a longer time. When all the precautions are being followed, the frozen stuffed peppers are good to use upto 6-9 months.

The most common question most of us have in our mind is, which is better? Cooked or uncooked stuffed peppers for freezing. The answer is cooked stuffed peppers are effortless. The time for thawing and reheating are completely differ from each other.

Cooked vs uncooked stuffed peppers.

Freezing cooked stuffed peppers is efficient and safe. Because the stuffed peppers recipe involves three different steps-blanching the peppers, making the filling, and baking it together. All three steps involve varying cooking times and methods.

Hence, for freezing uncooked stuffed peppers, we need to follow some prepping work. For this, we highly advise to blanch the peppers and cook the filling. Then, freeze the blanched peppers and cooked filing separately.

How to freeze stuffed peppers

In the dish tray. This is the most convenient of everything. Plus, this is super easy when reheating and serving. But the only problem is that it occupies most of your freezer space.

For this method, in a freezer safe deep tray, place the stuffed peppers by making them sit next to each other. And seal the tray with a cling wrap. And again wrap and seal them with aluminum foil to avoid the freezer bite.

And when you want to reheat it you can remove the wraps, you may directly pop them into the oven. You may also serve them in the same deep tray.

In Ziploc bags. This is the easier method, and does not occupy much of your freezer space.

For this, place a Ziploc bag over a tray. And arrange the stuffed peppers in the upright position into the Ziploc bag. Then seal it by removing the excess air.

Then place these stuffed peppers along with a tray in the freezer. And leave it overnight or 6-8 hours to make it completely frozen. Now you may remove the tray from the freezer and leave the Ziploc bag in the freezer.

Thus, the peppers stay intact inside the bag without spilling its filling.

In individual packs. On the other hand you may wrap them individually in air sealed bags or containers. This is more handy when reheating for single serve or when planning to serve in small portions.

Thawing

Conventional method. To thaw, you may place the frozen stuffed peppers in the refrigerator overnight or about 8 hours.

Quicker method. On the other hand, you may reheat it directly in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10-12 minutes or until its turns warm completely.

Reheating the stuffed peppers

In the oven. In this traditional method of reheating, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then place the frozen stuffed peppers in the middle rack until it's warm.

In the microwave. This is the quicker method. For this, reheat the stuffed pepper for 1 minute, and then in 30 seconds intervals until it turns warm.

In the Instant pot. Can we reheat frozen stuffed peppers in an Instant pot? Absolutely yes. In this method, add water to the inner pot. And place the trivet, and arrange the stuffed peppers in the electric  cooker sage bowl. And close it with a lid. Then set the timer to 4 minutes or until it reheated thoroughly.

In the airfryer. This is a recent addition of reheating frozen food, and this works very well in the frozen stuffed peppers as well. For this, place the stuffed peppers in the chamber. And set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. And reheat for 4 minutes or until it is done.

How Long Do Stuffed Peppers Last In the Freezer

When stuffed peppers are properly preserved and stored in double wrap, these are good to use upto 6-9 months.

How to avoid freezer burn?
