The Ingredients

The ingredients for the Cajun hot chocolate assembled in the kitchen counter top
  • Cocoa powder. I used unsweetened cocoa powder. If you are using a sweetened version, adjust the sugar mentioned in this recipe.
  • Dark chocolate chips. I chose dark chocolate chips, but you may use semi-sweetened, unsweetened, or chocolate bars. Adjust the sugar when using the sweetened chocolate chips.
  • Light Brown Sugar. Light or dark brown sugar enhances the taste of this Cajun hot chocolate. However, you can use refined sugar or other natural sugars.
  • Cajun seasoning. I've used homemade Cajun seasoning, and store-bought seasoning works fabulously, too.
  • Milk. I prefer whole milk, but you can also use low-fat or vegan milk, such as almond, coconut, or soy.
