From the scratch, efforts do not always come with a tag of workloads. Can you ever imagine a party dish made in under 10 minutes? And this cranberry jalapeno relish is a real example to showcase a recipe with minimal work but with exceptional taste same as this jalapeno peanut brittle.

This spicy relish goes with almost everything, affordable and liked by even by picky eaters. And this is one of the highly suggested recipes to turn in the people who don’t prefer cranberry. 

It's so much easy that you could put them in back stove while you carry on cooking other food.

The goodness of the spicy relish

Fast. Time is the main constraint when planning for a holiday dinner. As each dish is coupled with other pairing dishes. And this delicious cranberry jalapeno relish does not take much time.

Easy. No incremental or batches of adding ingredients. Just dump all the ingredients together in a single go.

Minimal ingredients. A perfect tasting side made using less than five ingredients, that are easily accessible.

Simple process. Bring everything to boil and cook for 10 minutes. A simple recipe that's written in two lines. But delicious and worths your time.

Delicious. The jalapeno cranberry relish tastes everything autumn. The jalapeno gives a spicy dimension and the fresh grated Ginger gives a warm depth to the recipe.

Vegan. Naturally, this recipe is also dairy-free and vegan. Every bite delivers an enchanting taste and tingles the taste buds. 

Ingredients and their substitutions

Cranberry. Use half  Use half a bag of cranberry feel free to use the fresh cranberries the Frozen cranberries.  Both do taste equally good and meets your expectations.

Jalapeno. The heat and the flavors that jalapeno brings incredible flavors to the sauce. Remove the white membrane and the seeds for mildly spiced relish. Leave some seeds on for moderate heat. 

Ginger. Gives a warm aroma that’s great for the holiday season. Use fresh or ground ginger. Typically,  both of these versions are ideal for the relish. My favorite is freshly grated ginger. Please make a note that fresh ginger and the ground ginger gives distinct taste and flavors. 

Lemon juice. Lemon or lime juice works great in here I did for the extra punch.

Sugar. I know it’s lots of sugar, reduce to suit your preference.

How to make cranberry jalapeno relish

Cut jalapeno into half. Remove the ribs and the seeds. And cut them into small cubes. Wear gloves if you are sensitive towards peppers.

 In low to medium heat,  place a pan. 

Add cranberries, chopped jalapenos, sugar, lime juice, grated ginger.

Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes or until the cranberries are soft.

Smash the Cranberries gently with that ladle and transfer the cranberry jalapeno relish to a serving bowl. 

Best to serve with

Cheese. Pour them over a block of cream cheese, a great dip is ready to surprise the guests.

Burger or Sandwich. Smather as a top layer in the sandwich. 

Grilled sausages. A delectable side, that tempts keep wanting more.

As a glaze. Puree it and spread over grilled meat as a glaze. The sweet and spicy coats is incredible.

Salad dressing. Drizzle over the salad for a quick delicious bite.

Storage tips

Refrigerate. Store them in the air tight container to use upto 10 days. 

Freeze. Store the leftover cranberry relish to freezer safe air tight bags or containers to store upto 4 months. To thaw, let them in the refrigerator overnight. 

Reheat. It tastes good when it is in room temperature. You may gently warm over microwave or in stove top.

Other flavors to addon

Cilantro. Brings the freshness and makes the jalapeno cranberry relish more aromatic.

Orange zest. Add it instead of orange zest. 

Mint. Makes the relish tastes and smells distinct in a delectable way.

Can I reduce sugar quantity?

Yes, the sugar is required to compensate the cranberry’s natural sourness. Reducing the sugar makes the relish tastes slightly sour and also affects the storage time.

How to dilute?

If you find the relish too thick, dilute it with warm water. And give a quick stir in medium heat.

Equipements

Skillet. A high quality heavy-bottomed skillet is must to have in kitchen.

Measuring spoons and cups. These are easy to clean up and easy to store.

Ingredients

  • 11/2 cup cranberry ½ bag-6oz or
  • jalapeno 1
  • sugar ½ cup
  • lime juice 1 tbsp
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ginger grated ½ tsp

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients to the pan
  • cook for 10 minutes in medium heat
  • or until the jalapeno is soft.
