Why You'll Love This Recipe?

⭐️It's a simple and easy-to-make recipe.

⭐️It is flavorful with a few pantry-staple ingredients.

⭐️Delicious, finger-licking chicken wings!

Ingredients

  • Chicken wings: Pat dry the wings before marinating. The moisture in the chicken determines its crispiness, so remove as much moisture as possible.
  • Baking powder: Baking powder makes the chicken wings crispy and golden brown. I prefer choosing an aluminum-free version.
  • Honey: This gives the body to this spicy honey lemon pepper wings sauce and works as a binding agent that evenly coats chicken wings. I highly advise you to add honey without substituting it with other sweeteners.
  • Hot sauce: I have used Frank's original hot sauce, but feel free to use the hot sauce you use regularly in the kitchen.
  • Lemon juice: Apart from adding a bright, refreshing flavor, it also thickens and emulsifies the sauce.
  • Ground black pepper: Freshly crushed black pepper provides an intense flavor.
  • Garlic powder: Black pepper and garlic complement each other and work great in this recipe.

How To Make Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings?

  • First, preheat your oven to 425°F. Pat dry the chicken wings with a kitchen towel.
  • Combine baking powder, cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
  • Add the wings to this spice mix and toss until they are coated evenly with the spices.
  • And spread them out on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Pop them in the oven for about 45 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let them cool for 10 minutes.
  • Mix honey, hot sauce, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt in a small mixing bowl.
  • Toss the wings in this sauce until they're fully coated.
  • Serve them with spicy ranch or your favorite dip, and enjoy every bite!

♨️How To Adjust The Heat?

The cayenne pepper (half a teaspoon) and hot sauce (quarter cup) add the heat to these honey lemon pepper wings.

You can adjust the heat by tweaking the amount of cayenne pepper and hot sauce.

Adjusting the cayenne pepper makes a considerable difference in the spiciness. However, you can choose mild hot sauce varieties.

Storage & Reheating

You can store the leftover honey lemon pepper wings in the refrigerator for up to three days or in the freezer for three months.

Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 15 minutes or until hot. Or air fry them for about five minutes or until it's crispy. Toss in hot honey sauce again, and ENJOY.

FAQ

What to serve with?

Serve hot honey lemon pepper wings as an appetizer or main dish with jalapeno ranch. Pair with veggies, salads, or coleslaw.

Can I use frozen wings?

Yes, absolutely! I've used frozen wings for this recipe. However, be sure to thaw them completely to room temperature before cooking.

What type of sauce works best for the recipe?

I've used Frank's and classic Worcestershire sauce, but my family prefers milder spice levels. To match your flavor profile, try other hot sauce brands.

Can I grill the wings instead of baking them?

Absolutely! Grilling the wings is one of our family's favorites. Grill at medium-high heat for 20 minutes or until crispy.
