Pineapple Jalapeno Sauce

What could be better than homemade Pineapple Jalapeno Sauce? It's sweet, spicy, and has bright pineapple flavors. It's made in under five minutes with simple ingredients. Just blend all the ingredients and enjoy a flavorful sauce effortlessly.

Summer brings more colors and joy together. Today, we're choosing pineapple and jalapeño. One brings vibrant tropical sweetness, and the other brings a fiery kick.

The above combination is always a sure hit, and that is reflected in this pineapple jalapeno sauce as well (also in this pineapple pico de Gallo).

I served this pineapple jalapeno sauce as a dip for our Cajun shrimp. However, you can also use it as a wing sauce for dipping, drizzling, or topping. This is a quick, crowd-pleasing sauce made with five simple ingredients in under five minutes.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

⭐️A delicious homemade sauce.

⭐️Super quick and easy to make.

⭐️Versatile and great for customizing too!

Ingredients

  • Fresh pineapple: I live in central Pennsylvania and get fresh pineapple from the store throughout the year. Their intense flavors work great in this sauce. You can also substitute frozen pineapple.
  • Jalapeno: You can use fresh or preserved jalapeno, like this roasted jalapeno.
  • Vinegar: White vinegar is best for preserving the natural aroma. Apple cider vinegar is a good substitute, but the taste changes slightly.
  • Lemon juice: This brings together the sourness of the pineapple and the vinegar.
  • Sweet onion: Sweet onions are known for their texture and neutral flavors. Yellow or red onions are equally good too.
  • Garlic cloves are one key ingredient that cannot be missed or substituted. A small quantity does huge magic here. I would not recommend replacing it with garlic flakes or garlic powder.

How To Make Pineapple Jalapeno Sauce

  1. Step 1. Remove the skin and cut the pineapple into chunks. Deseed the jalapeño and remove the pith. Cut the onion into cubes.
  1. Step 2. In a blender jar, add the pineapple chunks, jalapeño, onion, garlic, vinegar, lemon juice, and salt. Blend coarsely, then transfer to serving bowls. Enjoy with a salad or a sandwich!

How To Use?

♨️How To Adjust The Heat Level

  • This pineapple jalapeno sauce tastes mildly hot with the intense flavors of both pineapple and jalapeno.
  • I did mention it is mildly hot, as I added only the jalapeno's flesh. I removed the innards and the seeds to keep the heat low.
  • But you may increase the heat by adding the seeds and the rib inside.

The Leftovers

  • Store this pineapple jalapeno sauce in the refrigerator for about two days or in the freezer for about two months.
  • Thaw by refrigerating overnight or quickly defrosting in the microwave on a low setting.
  • When ready to use, heat it on the stovetop or reheat it gently in the microwave before serving.

FAQ

Can you make the sauce ahead of time?

Yes, you can make this sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to three days.

Can I adjust the sauce's sweetness?

Yes, this recipe depends solely on the sweetness of the pineapples. If the pineapples are not sweet enough, or if you prefer a sweeter flavor, add honey, sugar, or brown sugar until it reaches your desired level of sweetness.

Can I use canned pineapple instead of fresh ones?

Fresh pineapple is recommended for this sauce because of its bright, fresh flavor. However, if you're using canned pineapples, drain them well before adding them to the recipe.

Can I cook the sauce to make it thicker and glossier?

Yes! A delicious variation of this recipe is to cook the sauce until it thickens to a dipping consistency. You can also use it as a marinade for chicken wings-trust me, you'll thank me later for this tasty Asian-inspired twist!
