Introducing Sheet's copycat Boom Boom Sauce recipe: a creamy, hot, sweet, Asian-flavored, mayonnaise-based sauce. Perfect to enjoy as a dip with fries or slathered on a burger or hot dog, ready in under five minutes. Simply combine mayo with our secret blend of spices, and ENJOY!

If you've ever dipped into the famous Boom Boom Sauce from Sheetz or enjoyed the creamy, spicy sauce at Bonefish Grill, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
It all started one afternoon when my son and I stopped at our local Sheetz gas station after school to grab a quick snack, and that's when we first tasted Boom Boom Sauce. The flavor hit us instantly-familiar yet unique, simple yet mind-blowing(my family also loves this fish taco sauce).
The chef in me wanted to recreate it at home. And after a couple of tries, the flavors blended perfectly-creamy, spicy, and tangy-just like the original, maybe even better.
With just a few minutes of prepping, this boom boom sauce is ready, and the whole family loves it. And soon, it could become your go-to dip for everything (including these jalapeno cheddar poppers). And trust me, once you try it, you'll make it more often than you think.

Ingredients
- Mayonnaise: I prefer using light mayo for this recipe. You may use any brand of mayonnaise; homemade or olive oil mayo also works better.
- Sriracha sauce: It's an Asian-style hot sauce, and most major stores carry it; you may find it in their international aisle. If you like Asian recipes, I would suggest grabbing a bottle. It is the perfect hot sauce and goes with any recipe, like this spicy garlic edamame.
- Sweet chili sauce: An Asian-style hot-and-sweet condiment.
- Tomato ketchup: Complements the sriracha's heat. Also, it provides a mildly sweet and glassy texture.
- Garlic powder: Swap it with fresh minced garlic if you prefer.
- Onion powder. It balances the garlic flavor and brings all the other ingredients together.
- Dijon mustard. Adding Dijon mustard is my personal choice; it gives a toasty flavor. You can substitute it with yellow mustard sauce.
How To Make Boom Boom Sauce
- Place a small mixing bowl. Add mayo, sriracha sauce, sweet chili sauce, tomato ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, and Dijon mustard.
- Whisk until all the ingredients combine.
- Serve with fries or hot dogs.
♨️How To Adjust The Heat Level
This boom boom sauce is mildly hot. Sriracha sauce is the primary heat source in this recipe.
You can minimize the heat by reducing the sriracha in this recipe. But if you feel the sauce is too spicy to handle once made, add a blob of mayo or butter a little at a time. Whisk vigorously until combined.
Enhance the heat by adding more Sriracha sauce.
How To Use
- Tacos: This is the best sauce to serve with tacos; shrimp tacos are mentioned here.
- Shrimp: Get some grilled or sautéed shrimp, drizzle lemon juice over it, and dip it in the boom boom sauce; feel heaven before you.
- Wing sauce: Swap your wing sauce for this spicy sauce, and you will not be disappointed (like this spicy mango sauce).
- French fries and BBQ: This dip makes the grilled, barbequed meat finger-licking good.
- Hot dogs and burgers: Serve as toppings and add a layer of flavor.
The Leftovers
Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for about three days.
And this boom boom sauce is not freezer-friendly, as it curdles when frozen and thawed.

Frequently Asked Questions
It's a mayonnaise-based, Asian-flavored, spicy sauce. It's one of Sheetz's popular dipping sauces, generally served with chicken nuggets, fries, tater tots, and more.
Yes, you can swap it with Greek yogurt, silken tofu, or vegan mayo. Note that each alternate will alter the sauce's taste and flavor, but it always tastes delicious.
I would not recommend freezing this sauce, as mayonnaise cannot hold its creamy texture once frozen.
