Where to buy cedar planks? Stores carry untreated cedar planks exclusive for grilling and you may find it in the grilling aisle in the summer days. If you are not having at home, go and get it before they wrap up everything for the winter.
How to treat cedar planks for grilling? Immerse and soak cedar planks for about one hour in water. This way, it will not get burned in the grill.

Cedar Plank Salmon Grilled Recipe
Immerse and soak cedar planks in water for about 1 hour. I immersed them in a tub of water by keeping weight over the plank.
Wash and clean fish well. Pat dry the fish fillets with a paper towel. This enables the fish to absorb the flavors well. Place it on a plate.
For the marinating generously spread Dijon mustard. sprinkle some salt and pepper. Allow it to marinate for about 20 minutes.
Set the grill to the high. Reduce the flame to medium and keep the soaked cedar planks on the grill. Grill them for 2-3 minutes.
Place the skin sided fish over the plank. Cautions: keep the planks away from the direct flame. Check-in between to avoid cedar planks from overburning.
If the internal temperature shows 165° F, then it is perfectly done and ready to eat. Serve it with steamed vegetables. And the sauce.
For the sauce: Combine mayonnaise and hot sauce and whisk well sprinkle over grilled salmon and serve Cedar Plank Salmon immediately with steamed vegetables.

Cedar Plank Salmon Grilled Recipe
Ingredients
For the sauce
- 4 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
For the salmon
- 2 salmon fillet skin on
- 2 tablespoon dejon mustard
- ¼ teaspoon salt as required
- 1 teaspoon whole black pepper
Instructions
For the spicy sauce
- Combine mayonnaise and hot sauce and whisk well. And set aside
For the salmon
- Soak cedar planks in water for about 1 hour.
- Wash and clean fish well.
- Pat dry them with paper towel.
- Generously spread dijon mustard.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper.
- Allow it to marinate for about 20 minutes.
- Set the grill to the high.
- Reduce the flame to medium.
- Grill cedar plank for 2-3 minutes or until grill marks seen on the planks.
- Place the skin sided fish over the plank.
- And cook it for about 20 minutes to 30 minutes depending upon your desired level.
- If the internal temperature shows 165° F, then it is perfectly done and ready to eat.
- Drizzle the spicy sauce over grilled salmon.
- And serve with steamed vegetables and extra spicy sauce.
Caution
- Keep the planks away from the direct flame. Check in between the grilling time to avoid any over burning of cedar planks.
