My family loves this jalapeno honey sauce, which is a perfect balance of sweet, moderately spicy, and tangy with bold jalapeno flavors.

You can drizzle it over your grilled chicken(or this hot honey lemon pepper wings) or toss it as a salad dressing.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

⭐️Multi-purpose at Its Best!

⭐️Quick and Easy, ready in less than 10 minutes!

⭐️Family's favorite!

Ingredients

  • Jalapeno Peppers: I recommend using fresh Jalapeno peppers.
  • Honey: I prefer raw, unprocessed honey for its rich flavors. Try agave nectar or maple syrup if you want a vegan alternative.
  • Garlic: Fresh garlic cloves provide a robust flavor.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar Adds a beautiful depth to our Jalapeno Honey Sauce.

How To Make

pan with minced garlic and jalapeno slices
  1. Add olive oil, minced garlic, and jalapeno slices in a pan over medium heat. Stir until the garlic is fragrant.

  1. Add honey and apple cider vinegar. Reduce the heat to low, and cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Serve as a dressing or dip, and enjoy!

Top Tip

Simmering this jalapeno honey sauce on low heat is key, as it preserves the honey’s natural sweetness and develops a rich flavor.

♨️How To Control The Heat

This recipe has a moderate level of heat. To control the spice,

  • You can reduce the number of jalapenos or remove the seeds and the white membrane(which hold most of the heat).
  • You can use a milder pepper variety like Anaheim for even milder heat.
  • Feel free to add fresh habanero or Carolina Reaper for more profound heat.

Leftovers & Reheating

Refrigerate leftovers in an air-sealed container for up to two weeks, or freeze for two months.

Refrigerating can cause the honey to solidify. You can gently warm the sauce in the microwave or stovetop before using it.

Variations

  • Spicy Jalapeno honey sauce: You may increase the quantity of jalapenos or add hot chili peppers like cayenne or habanero peppers.
  • Smoky: Add a teaspoon of smoked paprika to this jalapeno honey sauce for a deeper, smoky flavor.
  • Herb-infused: To add an herbal twist, mix one tablespoon of chopped fresh cilantro or parsley with the sauce after it has simmered.

FAQs

How to use this jalapeno honey sauce?

Brush on grilled chicken or shrimp for a sweet and spicy flavor. Drizzle over-baked brie, top burgers, toast, or pancakes(like this ube pancakes), or use them as a flavorful marinade for meats or vegetables.

Why do we cook the jalapeños before adding the honey?

Cooking the jalapeños helps soften them and release their flavors. It also helps to infuse the honey with the spiciness of the jalapeños.

Can I adjust the amount of honey in the recipe?

Yes, you can increase or decrease the amount of honey according to your taste preferences.

This stuff is so good! I make spicy bacon burgers with finely diced jalapeno in the burgers. I put this on them instead of mayo, and man, was it delicious.
